6.50 hours Section 1 Group Learning (Day 1)

8 hours Section 3 Simulation (Day 2)

On behalf of Dr. Tina Meisami (Program Chair), and the Planning Committee, we are pleased to welcome you to the Temerty Advanced Surgical Education and Simulation Centre for The Impact of Skeletal and Soft Tissue Surgery in the Interdisciplinary Management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

This comprehensive two-day program is designed for oral and maxillofacial surgeons (OMFS), otolaryngologists (ENT), sleep physicians, as well as fellows and senior residents in ENT, OMFS, and sleep medicine. The course advances both clinical knowledge and surgical expertise through an immersive learning experience that integrates evidence-based didactic education with hands-on training in novel techniques and emerging technologies, while highlighting the latest research, innovations, and best practices in sleep surgery.

Participants may register for didactic-only attendance on May 8, 2026, which offers a full day of expert-led lectures, interdisciplinary discussion, and review of current surgical treatment options and their impact on disease burden. Alternatively, registrants may choose the Didactic + Advanced Skills Lab option (May 8–9, 2026), which includes an additional day of intensive, hands-on simulation-based training.

The advanced skills lab combines focused lectures and live demonstrations with extensive hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary learning environment. Surgeons will refine advanced skeletal and soft tissue techniques, while physicians from other specialties will observe, assist, and gain practical exposure to non-invasive procedures such as endoscopy, treatment planning, and oral appliance therapy.

Hands-on sessions utilize state-of-the-art 3D-printed surgical models derived from real obstructive sleep apnea patients. These high-fidelity models accurately replicate complex skeletal and soft tissue anatomy, allowing participants to practice advanced surgical techniques in a lifelike simulation environment—representing a ground-breaking advancement in surgical education and skills training.

The course is also highly relevant for physicians in anesthesiology, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, and dentistry who wish to deepen their understanding of the evolving role of surgical interventions in sleep medicine. This initiative represents a collaborative effort among leading academic experts from Canada, the United States, and Europe, offering a truly international and interdisciplinary perspective.
