It offers a new culinary experience where you can taste typical Slovenian dishes in a contemporary variety, prepared especially for you by Slovene chefs, under the baton of chef Luka Jezeršek. They will impress you with magnificent freshly prepared dishes from quality local ingredients and guide you to taste the magic of the 24 Slovenian gastronomic regions.

In 2025, the restaurant received the Michelin Selected distinction, which highlights establishments that prepare carefully crafted and delicious dishes using fresh ingredients, and represent great potential for the culinary development of the destination. Since 2022, Gostilna na Gradu has also been featured on the prestigious 50 Best Discovery list and is a recipient of two forks in the international culinary guide Falstaff.

Getting to the Castle

A 10-minute walk from the Grand Hotel Union Eurostars to the Funicular located at the base of the Castle. You can also take a leisurely walk up the hill, approximately a 20-minute inclined walk.

The Funicular will operate from 9:00 until 22:00, so come early and visit the beautiful Castle and all it has to offer. Please remember that the last Funicular runs at 22:00.

If you have time:

  • Visit the Virtual Castle and watch a twelve-minute video projection of the history of Ljubljana Castle - architectural development, archaeological discoveries and insights, all the way to its present-day appearance (15 minutes).
  • Climb the Observation Tower and enjoy the view in all directions (15 minutes).
  • Stop to watch a spatial projection in the largest castle hall, the Casemates (15 minutes).
  • Explore the coat of arms paintings in the charming Gothic Chapel of St. George and discover the fate of prisoners in the castle's prisons. Are you curious about what medieval weapons were like? Stop by the Erasmus Tower and see the Castle Weapons exhibition (15 minutes).
