Firefox

  1. In the FireFox address bar, type about:config.

Internet Explorer

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, then click the Security tab.
  2. Click the Internet Zone.
  3. If you do not have to customize your Internet security settings, click Default Level. Then do step 4.
  4. If you have to customize your Internet security settings, follow these steps:
    a. Click Custom Level.
    b. In the Security Settings - Internet Zone dialog box, click Enable for Active Scripting in the Scripting section.
  5. Click the Back button to return to the previous page, and then click the Refresh button to run scripts.

Chrome

  1. In the Chrome address bar, type chrome://settings/content/javascript.
  2. Adjust the toggle so that javascript is allowed.
  3. Close the Settings tab and Refresh the page.

 

Medical Student & Resident Travel Awards

100th Anniversary AGM & Conference

The Canadian Medical Association, MD Financial Management Inc. and Scotiabank proudly support the 100th Anniversary AGM & Conference, one of several initiatives that comprise their $115 million commitment to supporting the medical community and advancing health in Canada.  Through this support, we are proud to offer a limited number of Travel Awards available to medical students and residents travelling to our 2024 Annual General Meeting & Conference taking place September 27-28, 2024 at Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa, ON in celebration of our 100th anniversary.

Eligibility

· You must be a member of the FMWC in good standing

·        Not yet a member? Visit fmwc.ca/membership/become-a-member to join the FMWC.

· You must be available to attend the FMWC 2024 Annual General Meeting & Conference in Ottawa and agree to take on a small role,(Examples: moderate poster session on Saturday, Sept 28 (introduce the presenter, manage questions, timing, OR introduce a session, etc.). Your role will be assigned closer to the conference date.

· Following the conference, awardees will be required to submit a 500-word write up on the value of the travel grant and what was gained from the experience at the AGM and Conference.

 What's included?

· Travel award recipients will be eligible to have travel and accommodation costs reimbursed, including:

·        2 nights’ accommodation at the AGM Conference Hotel (Fairmont Château Laurier), at the conference rate (FMWC2024.com for hotel link and discount).

·        Travel (Airfare, Via-Rail Ticket, or Mileage) to and from the conference up to a maximum of $600 CAD. (Award winner will be responsible for booking their own travel and hotel reservation at the Fairmont Château Laurier; More details along with an expense form will be provided and all receipts must be submitted)

·        Complimentary conference registration

· Please note that attendance at the conference includes breakfast and lunch each day, as well as a welcome reception on Thursday, September 26 and our Gala Awards Reception and Dinner on Friday, September 27.

 How to Apply?

· Write a letter, addressed to the FMWC Executive, outlining why you should be selected for a Travel Award to attend the 2024 AGM and Educational Conference in Ottawa. Be sure to include an outline budget of your expected travel and accommodation costs (hotel rate is $329 plus taxes/night).

· Send your application before midnight EDT, Friday, July 5, 2024 to fmwcmain@fmwc.ca. Email subject line should include: “Student Travel Award Application”. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

· All applicants will be notified of results by Monday, July 22, 2024.

· Preference will be given to those travelling from out-of-province
