Course Overview
This four-day intensive course provides immersive training in open cerebrovascular surgery, with structured exposure to endovascular techniques and radiosurgery. Through case-based discussions and faculty-led debates, participants explore how these complementary modalities integrate into the modern cerebrovascular surgeon’s armamentarium.
Course Objective
The primary objectives of CSIC is to advance the skills of neurosurgery fellows and early-career neurosurgeons by presenting the latest technical innovations, research insights, and best practices in cerebrovascular surgery.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Make evidence-based treatment decisions for cerebrovascular diseases, including surgical, endovascular, radiosurgical and conservation approaches.
- Integrate clinical, anatomical, and radiological data to develop comprehensive case-specific surgical plans
- Apply advanced technical nuances and operative techniques in hands-on simulated wet labs to improve workflow and manage both anticipated and unanticipated intraoperative challenges.
Educational Format
CSIC delivers a blended learning experience designed to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice through
- Cadaveric wet labs
- Hands-on simulation (cadaveric, placenta, and models)
- Didactic lectures
- Interactive seminars
Topics covered
- Surgical and radiological anatomy of the intracranial vasculature
- Skull base anatomy and principles applied to cerebrovascular surgery
- Surgical and endovascular management of intracranial aneurysms Surgical, endovascular, and radiosurgical management of arteriovenous malformations
- Surgical management of cavernomas
- Management of carotid disease
