About the Virtual Institute

The Virtual Institute: States Driving Apprenticeship Expansion will bring together state apprenticeship expansion grantees and key partners for a national dialogue on apprenticeship, with a focus on states as facilitators and drivers of Registered Apprenticeship expansion. The Virtual Institute is designed to:

  • Support state representatives as important leaders in apprenticeship expansion efforts;
  • Provide a national forum for peer-to-peer discussion about successes, challenges, and solutions; and
  • Build knowledge about how states can accelerate apprenticeship growth and increase access to apprenticeships for underrepresented populations.

Virtual Institute Participants

All states and territories are welcome and encouraged to participate in the Virtual Institute, and grantees are welcome to invite other state partners involved in their state’s apprenticeship expansion strategy (such as, but not limited to, education and workforce system partners and key intermediaries). To promote learning across the Registered Apprenticeship system, additional participants will include US. Department of Labor (USDOL) Office of Apprenticeship personnel, representatives from the Technical Assistance Centers of Excellence, and technical assistance providers for other USDOL apprenticeship grant programs.

Virtual Institute Agenda

The Virtual Institute will include plenary sessions with federal and state leaders, workshops highlighting state strategies for apprenticeship expansion, roundtables for peer-to-peer dialogue, and more. We look forward to an engaging week where participants gain new ideas, new connections, and new energy for their work to expand and diversify Registered Apprenticeship in their states.
