Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a treatment for many movement disorders (particularly for Parkinson's Disease, dystonia, tremor and other involuntary movements) that can help patients when medication does not work well enough. DBS cannot cure these conditions or change the progression of the disease, but it can relieve symptoms and improve quality of life. For more information you can visit the Deep Brain Stimulation Clinic site.

What to Expect

Two events will address the need for peer information sharing on the pros and cons of DBS surgery from the point of view of those who are considering it and those who have had the procedure. Diversity of viewpoints will be encouraged, including those who have had a difficult experience.

These events are intended to be for patients and caregivers who have both questions about DBS and experiences, unique to them, with DBS. You will get to hear some of the world's leading experts on Deep Brain Stimulation answer difficult questions from the people most affected by it, their patients and care partners.
