This workshop will look at real-life insurance claims involving housing co-ops and the lessons they offer for building safer, more resilient communities. Experts from Co-operators will walk participants through what happened in each case, the impact on the co-op and its members, and the risk management steps that could have reduced or prevented the loss.

Through an interactive, panel-led format, participants will hear from specialists in cyber risk (including the use of AI), directors’ and officers’ liability, and property insurance. Together, the panel will explore practical actions—at both the co-op and individual level—that can help identify risks early, prevent losses, and protect members, assets, and the board of directors.
