Most of us are familiar with the various "hats" worn by directors of a co-op board. However, a less well-known role is that of the board of directors as an employer. This workshop will provide a broad overview of the various obligations that apply, including the duty to meet minimum employment standards and ensure a workplace free from harassment, bullying and discrimination. We will discuss how to deal with complaints of harassment and/or discrimination, and review best practices in working with direct hires, from the start of the employment relationship until the end.
