SYNAPSE is designed with clinicians in mind – trainee or a seasoned clinician; urban or rural; physician, resident, nurse, NP, paramedic, or allied healthcare provider. Course Director/Presenter
Dr. Katie Lin is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Calgary. She works clinically as an Emergency Physician at the Foothills Medical Trauma and Stroke Centre, a Stroke Attending with the Calgary Stroke Program, and a Critical Care Flight Transport Physician with STARS Air Ambulance in Alberta. She also serves on the advisory board for the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations Guidelines. She completed her FRCPC emergency medicine residency training and Canadian Stroke Consortium stroke subspecialty training in Calgary alongside a parallel Masters of Public Health through Harvard and she is passionate about med ed, neurocritical care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. As an award-winning educator, she has been invited as a recurring speaker for EM Cases Podcast, EM Updates Conference, the Canadian Stroke Consortium, Thrombosis Canada, and ICEM/CAEP. Outside the hospital and helicopter base, you’ll find her reading, painting, baking, traveling, hiking, trail running, and mountain biking.
