Description:

Learning Objectives:
• Recognize the normal anatomy, vascular landmark, and sonographic appearance of the Pancreas.
• Identify different pancreatic pathologies and the challenges of subtle findings.
• Characterize the Pearls of Pancreatic scanning.
Session Description:
Pancreatic Ultrasound is challenging because of the organ being hidden behind the bowel and the different vessels around it. Although CT is quite accurate in detecting pancreatic pathology, ultrasound can be used in cases of contrast allergies, pregnancy, children, and long wait times for CT scanning.
Sonographers need to be comfortable with all the vascular landmarks around the pancreas, and reviewing these pearls and tips of pancreatic scanning can help you to identify types of inflammation, cysts, and masses in the pancreas.
