Senator Ravalia was raised in the African country of Zimbabwe. He immigrated to Canada in 1984 and practiced Family Medicine in Twillingate, NL. He is a respected physician, medical educator, and former Assistant Dean of the Rural Medical Education Network at Memorial University. He was appointed to the Senate in 2018.
