CNA Workforce Planning Forum

This is a one-day workshop on workforce planning within the New Brunswick nuclear sector. This event is designed to provide valuable insights and strategies to address workforce challenges in the industry. As a benefit of your CNA membership, this workshop is offered at no additional cost.

Canadian jurisdictions are moving toward a sustainable future leveraging existing power-generating assets and new technologies. The nuclear sector is well-positioned to provide a significant portion of this need through the buildout of large and small reactors across the country. These growth projections must be supported by an increase in the skilled workforce necessary to meet demand. New nuclear advancements will require a new generation of engineers, technicians, operators, scientists, entrepreneurs, regulators and policy makers who have the requisite knowledge, skills and experience to enable, steer, build, regulate and operate new fleets.

Some of the key challenges related to the nuclear workforce include: maintaining the current workforce in light of an aging population and voluntary attrition; an increasingly competitive labor market across all positions; lack of sufficient training programs to enable growth of a younger workforce; and, making the nuclear sector attractive to students.

The CNA is working with its members to explore the solutions to these and other challenges. The events will bring the nuclear sector together to explore and discuss possible solutions to many of the challenges in the workforce space. The presentations and discussions will directly inform the sector’s workforce strategy that will be a focus for CNA and its members in the next couple years.
