This introductory level seminar is designed for lawyers who require a working understanding of financial statements to effectively advise clients or run their own law firm.
About the Program
New to financial statements? Then this program is for you! Learn the fundamentals of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements with this annual, best-selling program! Popular presenter and CPA Joseph Novello will walk you through the three most important financial statements lawyers should know. Using a combination of practical explanations and short, easy to follow exercises, Joe will explain how the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement interact with each other, how each statement is practically used, and how common business activities impact these statements. Along the way, you’ll gain a basic understanding of important finance and accounting concepts like goodwill, equity, depreciation, amortization and what the various levels of audit assurance mean. The presentation will focus on private companies, which most lawyers will encounter in their practice. The more you understand about financial statements, the better you’ll be able to counsel clients with confidence and use your financial skills to your client’s advantage in transactions or disputes. Having a working knowledge of financial statements will also help solo practitioners and principals of smaller law firms better understand their own financial performance. Joe even includes examples from a small law firm. Register now to learn what you need to know to read financial statements!
