The #EOtec24 Hybrid Conference program will be jam-packed with two and a half days of training worth up to 1.6 CEUs. This year's theme: Building Better Futures. Registration opens on the 4th of April 2024.

Keynote Speaker: Corey Hirsch.

Announcing the keynote speaker for #EOtec24:

Olympic silver medalist. CHL goalie of the year. Memorial Cup champion. Western Hockey League champion… and mental health advocate. Corey Hirsch.

By the time he was 21, goaltender Corey Hirsch had won an Olympic silver medal, realized his childhood dream of playing in the NHL, and drunk from the Stanley Cup. But these accomplishments did not matter to him as he was plagued by persistent dark thoughts and ceaseless anxiety. Even while he continued to excel in the net, his illness deepened. On days when he could barely get out of bed, he was able to push his misery aside for long enough to win a game. But as soon as he got back to his locker, the terrifying cycle started all over again. And it continued, until finally one night he drove his car toward a cliff, braking just before the edge. The near accident finally led him to confide in a team trainer, who helped him get the professional treatment he needed. Hirsch was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and he was able to embark on the rocky road to recovery.

Corey is compelling, compassionate, and genuine. During his keynote, he will share his personal experience about his journey towards improving his mental health.

“Corey is a powerful and compelling speaker. His message is educational, motivating, strong, and captivating. As a mental health advocate, broadcaster and National Hockey League player, the obstacles Corey has overcome is remarkable. He is determined to end the stigma.”

- Sean Burke, Former NHL Goaltender & general manager of Canada's Olympic National Men's Hockey Team 2018.
