Bio

Lindsay Sweeney-Hockin (they/them/she/her) is a wife to Megg, a proud queer, non binary, neurodivergent dog parent and a fundraiser who likes to do things a little differently. With a background in theatre, Lindsay started their fundraising career 14 years ago working and volunteering organizations focused on 2SLGBTQAI+ community development and support. Through years Lindsay then transitioned to shops more focused on housing, shelter, mental health and violence prevention. Currently, Lindsay is the Director of Development for NYWS - an anti-violence centre pushing back against gender based violence on the traditional territories of Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. Lindsay is committed to having complicated conversations within the fundraising, and non profit sector, and in the last two years at NYWS has focused on building out an advocacy-first donor acquisition program, and shifting NYWS practices to align with Community Centric Fundraising Principles.
