Sightseeing and Co-op Tour - $30
June 11, 9:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
A popular Annual Meeting event, this year’s tour takes you back in time to explore Halifax’s rich history. We’ll see the Hydrostone District, which was built after the Halifax Explosion to house those who lost their homes, as well as the commemorative site of Africville, a community founded by Black Nova Scotians in the mid-18th century but which was demolished in the 1960s after years of neglect by the city. Other sights on the tour include the Historic Halifax Waterfront, Citadel Hill,City Hall/Parade Square as well as St. Paul’s Anglican Church – the oldest surviving Protestant church in Canada and oldest building in Halifax. And of course, we’ll be stopping at a co-op, the 43-unit John Hugh MacKenzie Housing Co-operative for seniors in the city’s south end.
Meet at the back entrance of the Halifax Convention Centre (known as Rogers Square) at 9:15 a.m. to board the bus.
