Annual Meeting & COVID-19 FAQs

Updated April 17, 2020

We have had to make the difficult, but necessary, decision to not go ahead with our Annual Meeting in Halifax.

For those who have already registered for this year’s Annual Meeting, please review the following information:

Q. Can I receive a full refund for registration fees?

A. Yes. Our Annual Meeting registrar, Marie Marin, will be following up with registrants to provide you with a full refund for your registration. If you would like to defer your registration to 2021 (Ottawa), this is also an option.

Q. Can I receive a full refund on my hotel booking?

A. Yes. If you have booked your accommodations through one of our partner hotels, (The Barrington Hotel, The Prince George Hotel, or the Cambridge Suites Hotel), you can cancel your booking with no penalty. You will need to follow up with your hotel, or other accommodation provider, to cancel your own booking. Contact details can be found here.

Q. Can I receive a refund for my flight?

A. Unfortunately, Air Canada isn’t issuing refunds for flights, only credits. If you booked using the Air Canada promo code (KMJZXVR1), you will need to contact them to have a credit issued. The credits are good until April 30th, 2022, meaning that you will be able to use your credit for next year’s Annual Meeting in Ottawa, but not for the year after in Halifax (as all travel on the new booking has to be completed by April 30th, 2022).

They are waiving the change fee one time, but any difference between the new and original fares will be collected at the time of re-booking. It’s also important to note that name changes can be done, but for a fee.

We are continuing to gather information and updates through our travel agent, and will post the latest information here. In the meantime, please check Air Canada and Westjet’s websites for the latest updates on COVID-19 travel information.

Q. Why isn’t CHF Canada going back to Halifax in 2021?

A. We had hoped to, but the Halifax Convention Centre is fully booked for next year. We’ll be in Ottawa for 2021, and then back to Halifax in 2022.
