Description:

This presentation aims to introduce preventative whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WB-MRI). Recently, there has been a growing trend of using WB-MRI in proactive health care as it has been popularized by social media. Using knowledge and experience from a large provider of preventative WB-MRI, as well data from literature, this session will help provide current insight on this type of medical imaging exam. The presentation will conclude with a prediction of future trends of WB-MRI.

Objectives:

  • Explore the role of WB-MRI
  • Differentiate between diagnostic and preventative WB-MRI
  • Outline sequences used in preventative WB-MRI
  • Give examples of common findings in preventative WB-MRI
  • Review MR safety concerns regarding preventative WB-MRI
  • Predict the future trend of WB-MRI

This session aligns with the CAMRT Strategic Plan Pillar 'MRTS Prepared for the Future'
