This presentation metaphorizes the practice of psychological safety as a modern-day video game and encourages the audience to re-think their understanding of the notion in a more digestible fashion. We will also briefly discuss the origins of psychological safety before outlining the major components involved in developing it, the different perspectives that one can take when implementing it, and how these concepts can be better encompassed within interprofessional settings. Finally, the presentation concludes with a discussion of how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted these processes.

  • Explore the role of psychological safety within interprofessional teams and virtual settings

Increasing Awareness of Lung Cancer in Never Smokers (LCINS) with Primary Care Providers in Alberta

This presentation will briefly cover the Think Lung Cancer project undertaken in Alberta to bring attention and awareness of lung cancer in never smokers (LCINS) to primary care providers. It will discuss the challenges of diagnosing lung cancer, and challenge the assumptions that lung cancer is a 'smokers disease'. Resources and tools will be shared including a patient's Digital Story and diagnostic work-up pages for primary care provider in Alberta.

Objectives:

  • Learn about the Lung Cancer in Never Smokers (LCINS) population.
  • To understand the different tumor characteristics and treatment options of never smoker lung tumors vs smoking associated lung tumors.
  • To become aware of LCINS resources that are available on the Cancer Care Alberta website.
