This presentation highlights the value of cannabis use for therapeutic purposes (CTP) from a oncological perspective. It summarizes the current approach taken by Radiation Therapists when caring for patients taking CTP and advocates for further research by pinpointing the most prevalent limitations in improving the standard of care.

  • Identify and explore the information needs of Radiation Therapists regarding CTP

Current Alberta Radiation Therapy Care Practices for Patients with Obesity and Recommendations for Improvement

Obesity has been associated with increased incidence of cancer thereby impacting the number of patients with obesity who may require radiation therapy (RT). Semi-structured interviews were conducted, transcribed and analyzed independently by two researchers and used to inform recommendations for improvement to existing care practices. Themes emerged as unique considerations for patients with obesity undergoing RT, recommendations for improvement are discussed.
