Elevating Quality & Safety: The Role of a Clinical Practice Leader in Medical Imaging Management This presentation will briefly describe the role of a clinical practice leader (CPL) or equivalent as an integral part of the management team in medical imaging, and how its presence is crucial in ensuring high-quality patient care, optimizing operational workflow, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. As interprofessional healthcare systems become more complex, CPLs act as liaisons that help in bridging the gaps between frontline imaging staff, other healthcare teams, and senior management, to align clinical practices with organizational goals as well as raise awareness on all things pertaining to medical imaging. With a focus on ensuring satisfactory levels of staff competence, they provide essential leadership in implementing evidence-based protocols, promoting best practices, and driving compliance with regulatory standards, giving managers more opportunity to shift their focuses on administrative matters such as staff compliance, budgeting, human resources, etc.

Objectives:

  • Explore and highlight the role and impact the CPL (or similar role) has on the overall view of medical imaging within a health care organization or network
  • Showcase how CPLs bridge clinical practice and management, fostering collaboration and continuous professional development
  • Discuss implementation of a clinical practice leader as an integral part of medical imaging management, and their structural variations between organizations

This session aligns with the CAMRT Strategic Plan Pillar 'MRTs Prepared for the Future'
