This session will be 20 minutes, with 5 minutes of Q&A

Technologist-Led Optimization of MRI Services
Vicki Henderson, MRI Manager, Zone 7, Horizon Health Network

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams have some of the longest wait times in medical imaging across Canada. By initiating a technologist-led optimization project, combined with a retro-fit of its magnet, Miramichi Regional Hospital has been able to achieve higher throughput of patients, to the extent that it consistently meets the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) elective wait time benchmark of 60 days. This presentation will discuss the change management approach, the evaluation of processes, and the changes implemented that led to the improved throughput.

Objectives:

  • Discuss change management and empowering technologist-led initiatives
  • Review strategies used to optimize MRI services Identify methods to foster a continued culture of change

This session will be 20 minutes, with 5 minutes of Q&A
