This workshop will explore approaches to attracting and retaining technical staff through two potential career streams: one focused on technical expertise without moving into management, and another centred on management or business development.

Participants will discuss:

• Advantages and challenges of the dual career path approach
• Organizational structures that support both technical and managerial roles
• Factors influencing career path choices
• Skills and attributes associated with each pathway
• Strategies to recognize technical expertise alongside management roles
