Description:

Organized by the Active Transportation Integrated Committee

High traffic volumes in residential and community areas can create unsafe and unfriendly environments. Traffic circulation plans divert vehicles away from sensitive areas while maintaining smooth flow. While such approaches have delivered benefits in cities such as Barcelona's Superblocks, Groningen’s car-free town centre, and London’s low-traffic neighbourhoods, they can also generate public concern.

This workshop will:

  • Provide an overview of traffic circulation plans in Europe and Canada
  • Propose a traffic circulation plan for a Canadian community
  • Task participants with developing a news headline and key talking points for the plan

Note: Registered delegates will have the opportunity to indicate their interest in this workshop in late August. Due to limited capacity, delegates may indicate interest in only one workshop.
