Organized by the Active Transportation Integrated Committee

This workshop will provide practical tools and strategies to support effective communication on active transportation topics, including demand, standards, facility types, and funding.

An introductory presentation will cover:

  • Defining and understanding your target audience
  • Considering your audience perspectives
  • Tailoring key messages
  • Gathering and integrating feedback
  • Communicating outcomes and building consensus  


Following a short break, participants will rotate through facilitated breakout discussions focused on communicating with politicians, planners/designers, end users, facility owners/operators, and stakeholder groups. The workshop will conclude with key takeaways, and participants will receive a workbook to use in their workplace.

Note: Registered delegates will have the opportunity to indicate their interest in this workshop in late August. Due to limited capacity, delegates may indicate interest in only one workshop.
