In this workshop, practitioners will learn to better connect and communicate with people by experiencing what it feels like to be a member of the public during a consultation process or event. The workshop will explore the “Liberating Structures” framework (www.liberatingstructures.com) which offers an alternative to conventional engagement. It will apply two different structures – “User Experience Fishbowl” will focus plenary presentations and discussion around one topic, and “Wise Crowds” will allow participants to raise their own challenges (solicited in advance) for discussion in small groups. By practising these two structures, workshop participants will be introduced to an innovative tool they can use in their own practice.
