Description:

Organized by the Joint Roundabouts Subcommittee of the Geometric Design Committee

A turbo roundabout is a type of multi-lane roundabout having a small entry and exit curvature, exclusive left-turn or right-turn movements with spiral markings, and semi-mountable lane dividers.  Two have been recently constructed in the United States, and there is considerable interest in them in Canada.  However a frequently-expressed concern is the viability of the semi-mountable lane dividers in winter.  This panel discussion will talk about the pros and cons of turbo roundabouts, how winter maintenance concerns could be addressed, and how turbo roundabouts might be applied in Canada.
