Description: Area X.O is one of Canada’s leading roadway testbeds and a venue for disseminating results from its annual research program by showcasing prototypes and innovations to interested stakeholders. It features an interconnected smart city with technology-laden roads and sensor-linked three- and four-way intersections, a data-rich command center and drone zone, a level railway crossing, a 100-acre smart farm, and one of the most advanced communications infrastructures in the world with 5G. The overarching goal of this complex is to help innovators and companies get to market faster and supports Canada’s goals of a safer, more efficient, and environmentally-sustainable transportation system. This tour will showcase connected and autonomous vehicles, drones, smart-city solutions, IoT (Internet of Things), robotic technology, agri-tech innovations, and more.
How to attend: If you pre-registered
for a tour, but can no longer attend, return your tour ticket to the Info
Booth. If you’d like to go on a tour but didn’t sign up, visit the Info Booth
to check if any tour tickets are available. 15 minutes before the tour’s
start time, head to Level 1 and volunteers will be there to provide
instructions.
