Firefox

  1. In the FireFox address bar, type about:config.
  2. Look for the javascript.enabled setting.

Internet Explorer

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, then click the Security tab.
  2. Click the Internet Zone.
  3. If you do not have to customize your Internet security settings, click Default Level. Then do step 4.
  4. If you have to customize your Internet security settings, follow these steps:
    a. Click Custom Level.
    b. In the Security Settings - Internet Zone dialog box, click Enable for Active Scripting in the Scripting section.
  5. Click the Back button to return to the previous page, and then click the Refresh button to run scripts.

Chrome

  1. In the Chrome address bar, type chrome://settings/content/javascript.
  2. Adjust the toggle so that javascript is allowed.
  3. Close the Settings tab and Refresh the page.

  1. Welcome & Introductions
    Get the day started with introductions, an Indigenous Land Acknowledgement, and key information on our full day summit.
  2. Embracing Change Keynote
    The world we live in is always changing and being able to embrace change will prepare co-ops to face any challenge head-on and emerge stronger and more resilient. Hear from Daniel Roukema a recognized facilitator, speaker, and instructor, and how he has maintained an unwavering commitment to social impact in Canada and around the world for thirty years.
    Keynote speaker: M. Daniel Roukema is the CEO of MDR Strategy Group working exclusively with non-profit organizations committed to building safer, healthier, greener, and more equitable communities. Daniel is a seasoned and award-winning professional recognized for his innovation and thought leadership in non-profit organizational design.
  3. Embracing Change Facilitated Discussions
    Take time to discuss some of the emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in the Atlantic Region. Topics for discussion will include: increasing the supply of co-operative housing; the benefits and challenges of unification; and creative solutions for co-operative’s evolving needs.

Networking Lunch 12-1pm – All

Enjoy a buffet lunch and the company of other co-op members from across the Atlantic Region.

Afternoon sessions 1-3pm - Choice of one:

  1. Governance
    Why is being on the Board so hard? Allison Ferris
    Board members are busy people living in a busy world; so how do we make it easier? What do today’s boards need to consider to make the job easier and not get bogged down. In this workshop we will learn about tools and resources to help you update your board processes and get some tips to help busy boards.
    Workshop leader: Allison Ferris is the Client Services Co-ordinator at Housing Alternatives, Saint John, NB and a CHF Canada workshop leader.
  2. Engagement
    Every member can be a great member. Jaclyn Johnston
    Let’s talk about belonging and how it can be used to build connected communities. We will discuss what belonging means; why it is important; how we can find peoples’ gifts and assets, and connect them through our everyday co-op interactions so that everyone feels like they belong.
    Workshop leader: Jaclyn Johnston is the Regional Co-ordinator, Atlantic and workshop leader for CHF Canada.
  3. Growth
    So you think you can build: how ready is your co-op to add more units? Jessica Bundy
    Have you ever dreamt about building more homes within your co-op community? Wondered what it takes to turn this dream into a reality? With various funding and building opportunities available, the time is right. Join us to explore new construction development and growth possibilities for your co-op.
